Ultrasound Therapy
This therapy works well for joint-related injuries, muscle spasms and other soft tissue problems.
When most people think of an ultrasound, they picture the type that is utilized to screen the inside of the body, such as to look at a growing baby inside of the mother’s uterus. A therapeutic form of ultrasound, however, uses sound waves which oscillate between the soft tissues and their attachment to bones.
Depending on setting used, ultrasound can be calibrated to reduce inflammation post acute injury or at another frequency to reduce scar tissue formation. Gel is used as a medium between the skin and the instrument to conduct the sound waves.
Certain types of ultrasounds use a heating effect. The heat will further relax muscles and areas of tightness, speeding up your recovery.
